Gopher acivity higher in areas without rocks. Seeds that produced in rocky areas most likely to die and not reproduce in their irst year. Lots of exposure for plants if in open non-rock area. Rock-refuge hypothesis is that the rocks protect the plant from other factors so provide beter living environment for plant.
