Transcription unit - transcribed
Blue - exon
Yellow - intron
Or pre-mRNA
Introns = transcribed, not translated ALWAYS
Exon in mRNA, might not code for protein (regulatory)
Exon not in mRNA; mRNA is just one kind of RNA and only mRNA makes protein
Exons = transcribed, may or may not be translated
