Document Summary

Week 11: interactions between cells and their environment. 9. 9 (and the figure legend) microtubule"s 13 protofilaments are staggered to form a more helical shape. E. g. , multiple sclerosis myelin sheath autoimmune disease. Epithelial tissue: lines cavities, organs, and surfaces of tissues (e. g. , epidermis, outside layer of skin) Cells closely connected, some in contact with bl. Basal lamina (basement membrane): specialized ecm between et and ct (sometimes included in epithelial tissue) Cells are attached to each other (some also to basal lamina) In the ecm of connective tissue, there are lots of specialized structures and proteins (e. g. , collagen, etc. ) Different composition of ecm: give tissues different properties. Integrin are transmembrane proteins help cells interact with ecm. Ecm consist of various proteins (e. g. , collagen, fibronectin, laminin, proteoglycan: made from er lumen, vesicle lumen, golgi lumen, vesicle lumen, plasma membrane. Secreted by fibroblasts, epithelial and smooth muscle cells.
