difference of what their body is consuming. How to measure VO2 max and O2
consumption – limiting factor : breathing and circulation.

I.O2 consumption – look at ventilation
vol. of air breathe in 1 min. 20L X 500 – 10K mL.min.
20/100 = 20 % O2 breathe in X 10 K ml. = 2K ml/min comes in
Volume of O2 in air breathe out ~ 16% amt. of O2 consumed at rest is 16% X 10 K
2000 – 16000 = 400 ml/min.
Maximal Exercise VQ max
Vol. of breathing in 1 min. = 40 X 500 = 200K ml/min or 200L/min.
Vol. of O2 air breathe in in 1min. is 20 % breathe in X vol. = 40 L / min. amt. of
O2 in 1min.
