Document Summary

Ground tissue include: parenchyma, collenchyma, sclerenchyma. Procambium: gives rise to vascular tissue system: Apical meristem gives rise to 3 primary meristems: (region in shoot/root that has a lot of undifferentiated cells that continuously divide: protoderm. Looked at this last class: ground meristem. Gives rise to ground tissue system: procambium. Bulb/dome at top is apical meristem of shoot: region of undifferentiated cells. On flanks of shoot apical meristem are developing leaves: as go out further get older and older leaves. Very active system where cells are dividing: cells that pass out continue to divide, and expand, then differentiate to become mature cell types. Ground meristem: majority of tissue, bulk of plant body. Procambium: gives rise to xylem + phloem. Cells that result from division of shoot apical meristem eventually expand and elongate. As cells pass out of meristem and elongate and differentiate. Pushes the meristem up: derivatives expanding/specializing moves shoot apical meristem up.
