Document Summary

The basic projection of what will happen under climate change, is looking at species currently and projecting how they will be. Using global climate models, one can predict what the future will be like in 2100. This looks at what conditions will be like in 2100 in order to give a picture of this effect. Toronto will continue to resemble mid-atlantic climate conditions, forcing many creatures to move northwards. Many species have strong dispersal capacities, some organisms are highly mobile as well. Most natural changes have been slow enough to allow migratory abilities of organisms to adjust ranges. Whether the anthropogenic changes that we are causing is too fast for species to keep up and evolve, however is the question. An example of this is the pronghorned grazers. Pronghorn antelopes migrate northwards during the summer, and are the fastest north.
