Q8. Precipitation and Solubility Equilibrium (Hard)
You are provided with BaCl2 and Na2SO4 solutions
separately. The two solutions are mixed and BaSO4
precipitate is formed. Before mixing and precipitation you
have 5x10-4 moles of Barium per 500ml and 5x10-5 moles of
Sulfate per 500 ml. Calculate the molar concentration of
sulfate ion left after mixing and precipitation of BaSO4. How
much percent sulfate do you expect to be not precipitated?
Given the Ksp of Ba SO4 1.1 x 10-10.
