Document Summary

Lecture 5 (october 11, 2016): the adventures of robin hood. Every resource is dedicated to getting the story clearly: each episode is connected by causality and a transition event. Like dialogue: usually some sort of deadline to mark out the time, usually two lines of action that come to a close together. Romance plot: loves closure, wrapped up nicely. Robin has a goal: trying to remove the oppressor. Marian gets turned around and tried to help: part of the romance plot because female lead, also part of the main plot because tries to save robins. Movie has long distinct episodes: like when he meets friar tuck, does not serve the plot. Basically there because its fun: narration structure can loosen to let in these kind of extended sequences, the promise of the premise. You expect these kinds of things to happen in classical hollywood. How do we identify a genre: semantic. Comes into community, saves the little guy.
