Document Summary

After the ejection of the kings that happened at the end of the 6th century, rome has become quite a big city, and after they get kicked out the power held by the kings gets distributed among elected majestrates. The important outcome is the stories that early romans tell seem to be true. The consuls are given special powers to help mark them out from the rest of the wealthy people in rome. They get to wear special clothes, special chairs to sit in, and they are attended by special servants. They were very special because the romans valued leaders that could give military command. Hes attended by lictors, but hes not as important as the consuls. He is important because he can command armies, mostly the praetor is going to be the guy left behind in rome when the roman armies go to fight their enemies.
