Artificial intelligence not a new idea, although recent success is making it very popular right now/news- worthy. Chances of it changing society are now coming to fruition. Likely to result in 45% increase in unemployment. Were probably going to have autonomous cars ~5-10 years > all truck drivers will be out of jobs. Have to take them seriously, but also have to consider the history. The history of ai actually goes back to beginning of scientific revolution. Aristotle had a theory of how the mind knows the world called conformity theory. Conformity theory: sharing the same form (form is the gestalt - structural, functional organization), gestalt makes something what it is mind takes not he form of the thing(s) that are known. Gestalt structural functional organization: everything is made out of this thing called wood and they can turn those material into different thing something can be made out of the same things, but still be different.
