Lecture 9: equality i: law"s authority in unequal societies today"s theme: ethics of criminal justice in unequal societies, including our own. Very controversial with many facets focus on individuals who are disadvantaged by inequality, effects their obligation to obey the law. Next week, we will look at the punishment and see if the state has the right to enforce its laws through punishment. National media caught the attention of the country by seeing this violent imagery; it was hard to ignore. King was arrested and while in jail, was responding to an essay by white religious leaders who were criticizing king for breaking the law. Disproportionate amounts of racial minorities, both victims and perpetrators. Put in inputs, the criminal justice system does something, and then we get outputs. 1) the inputs are already based off of inequality, so the box is just pushing it forward.
