One of the mrnas (alternative splicing) got mixed up with retrovirus machinery, got converted to cdna and inserted somewhere else in the genome 2 different copies of the gene cdc14b (redundant) Genes subfunctionalized (gene function split between 2 copies instead of one gene doing both functions: selective pressure on both genes.
