Although women did not hold political office in ancient athens, some did hold another important form of public office, namely . Women didn"t hold political office, but they could hold religious offices. Debate about whether you should vote depending on property qualifications. European states until 19th century if not later, retained some form of property pre- requisite. Won"t use foreign term unless explained in class. Mobility rights as strictly limited to citizenship. Different tiers of citizenship; access of honors and rights as pyramid scaling. Roman and gender different family names; males name could be more complicated; a nickname related to men"s accomplishments. Female names got less public recognition for their name. Women could lose honor through adultery; losing honor for sexual acts with other people asides the person she was assigned to. People from different social backgrounds are subject to different kinds of punishment.
