Lope de vega"s the new art of making plays in this age: comedies: i don"t make it too artsy, but not to trashy neither. 3 important aspects: discoure, verse, music: applicable to comedy and tragedy. Comedy de ned by depiction of lowly people rather than tragic high people: we call them auto, because its imitating what the crowd be doing later tonight. Unlike old comedies where its fully artsy etc. We should like the middle thing between two extremes: it"s nice to have a little thing that"s half tragedy half comedy or whatever, how to do a comedy. There should be one plot only and it should be poignant. Each act: strict four sheet limit, since twelve total is a good length. You shouldn"t leave gaps where nobody"s talking. Don"t waste wittiness on pointless garbage, save it for the meaningful stuff: make the diction clear and exible, not elegant; its for plebs, remember.
