We are interested in conserving populations not individuals. Declines are recent, and most can be attributed to humans. A lot of species are data de cient because they are cryptic or live in burrows. Deforestation/ development (indonesia , brazil and phillipenes have highest deforestation rates) Road construction (blandings migrate large distances and killed while crossing roads) Introduction of exotic species (cid:12254) (cid:12254) (cid:12254) (cid:12254) Introduced predators are especially devestating and are responsible for many extirpations or extinctions.
