Separates or slices the protagonist and reader form the world . The belief in what cannot be seen but is sensed, the preference for what the senses tell one over. The rhythm of the intrusion fantasy is a cycle of suspension and release, latency and escalation, hesitation and remorselessness . Faith in the sub- surface, the sense that there is always something lurking . Intrusions begin small and often quite distant.
