•When the ship began in Hong Kong, the ship was surveilled all the way to BC
-they were breaking the exclusion laws on continuous passage
-Anglo-Indian - result of British Colonialism
•British loyalist policeman recruited as the chief surveiller of the punjabi community
•expansive role as chief architect of surveillance of 5,000 punjabis
-last people who fell as the last Raja state in India
•military strong - recruited into the British Armed Forces
•many were veterans of the BAF but became anti-Britain
