Thought he had a higher calling as a mathematician but is most famous for children"s books. Alice and using logic puzzles to explain things. Children"s literature was very didactic before alice follow the rules, moral lessons or else something bad happens. Start of the golden age of literature idealized, imaginative novel children"s literature. Word is the signifier, image is the signified, together they are a sign. Lewis is interested in destabilizing the language. Nonsense: words make sense and are arranged in recognizable grammatical order, but they don"t have a recognizable meaning.
