Acid Rain:
The effect of Acid Rain on Lake Superior and on Lake Ontario
Superior is surrounded by granite rocks and Ontario by limestone rocks.
When taking samples of each of the rocks and putting them in water with acid to simulate acid
rain, one should tend to be more acidic than another. The granite would be more acidic, as it
reacts more to acid rain while the limestone surrounding Lake Ontario is more able to
compensate.
So, fishies would be happier in Lake Ontario
Exercise:
Pick an item- laptop, cell, etc., and see what it͛s made of, where it͛s from, how long have you
had it, and how long you intend to keep it.
My cell:
iPhone assembled in China,
has plastic, aluminium (banxite?), glass (sand, quartz), gold, zinc, coltan (a
metal), rubber (tree sap), copper, silicone, lithium (battery),
had it for 4 months and will have it for the next three and a half years.
Their example, a pen:
Plastic (oil), ink, metal (probably steel [ore])
Go into earth/geosciences!! There are plenty of jobs and a great lack of people.
