In 1793, after reign of terror, jacobins were defeated in the national convention: david was arrested that year and was later pardoned because he was looked up to in the. In 94 the entire assembly met and agreed to kick out the jacobins community. In 1799, this is the time that napoleon is rising up in power and takes over the national convention: napoleon hired david as his painter, david now instead of painting for the revolution, and now paints napoleon. In 1815 he moved to brussels and died 10 years later after he was exiled when napoleon was defeated in 1815.
