Temperate Rainforests
-Among the rarest forest biomes because they have a very small distribution
-They are found in almost every continent, but they are found in very small patches
-Largest distribution is on west coast of Canada
-Characterized by consistency in climatic conditions, rarely if ever does it go below
zero, with the exception of the interior rainforest
-Low temperature fluctuations
-In the interior rainforest (kootaneys) its higher elevation, there is a lot of snow
-We can categorize rainforests by temperature and precipitation
-35% of the remaining rainforest is found on the pacific coast of Canada
-The rarest are found in northern Idaho and the interior of British Columbia
-Territory has been minimally affected by human activity
-Great bear rainforest still has 'primeval' areas, no linear features, no agriculture or
timber, nothing but there still are indigenous uses
-They are vital parts of the forests, because they can resist climate change and
mitigate global warming through sequestering carbon
-Only 8% is protected worldwide
-These forests are the 'lungs of the planet'
-Lichens found in inland rainforests, if atmospheric pollution is too high, so arboreal
lichens are indicators of environmental health
-They also absorb enormous amounts of water, and it is released slowly usually as fog
-Huge root masses an big trees can stabilize the sides of mountains
-15-20% of greenhouse gases are from forest degradation and deforestation
-There are 5 major policy interventions
•Keep intact rainforests untouched

Document Summary
Among the rarest forest biomes because they have a very small distribution. They are found in almost every continent, but they are found in very small patches. Largest distribution is on west coast of canada. Characterized by consistency in climatic conditions, rarely if ever does it go below zero, with the exception of the interior rainforest. In the interior rainforest (kootaneys) its higher elevation, there is a lot of snow. We can categorize rainforests by temperature and precipitation. 35% of the remaining rainforest is found on the paci c coast of canada. The rarest are found in northern idaho and the interior of british columbia. Territory has been minimally affected by human activity. Great bear rainforest still has "primeval" areas, no linear features, no agriculture or timber, nothing but there still are indigenous uses. They are vital parts of the forests, because they can resist climate change and mitigate global warming through sequestering carbon.
