Major diseases in new world: includes small pox, measles, flu: estimated to have killed 90-95% new world populations. Small pox: caused by variola virus, originiated in india 3000 bc, ramses v d 1157 bc, eradicated 1979 after global un vaccination program, brought to the new world by hernan cortez 1520.
