Many diseases we contract are due to plants & animals that we have domesticated. We share over 60 diseases w/ dogs, 30+ w/ horses. Malaria is caused by mosquitoes, a mosquito vectoral disease. Epidemic diseases need a hug population to sustain. Yellow fever and malaria are assumed to be derived from apes. A virulent form of malaria plasmodium falciparum have come from chimps. Sleeping sickness is caused by 2 species of protozoan. S. sickness, yellow fever & malaria impacted most/every hominid populations. Mumps is a virus only targeted at male boys. Measles is dying down but chicken pox is still exists strongly. Vectors that require water is a breeding spot for diseases: increasing regional interactions & the merging of different disease pools through trade, war, colonization, missionary activity. African pool = yellow fever, s. sickness, hiv/aids, malaria. European pool = measles, mumps: american pool = syphilis.
