Fixing global warming will fix many other problems. Cooling of stratosphere by increased co2 creates conditions that allow for ozone depletion. Will persist until chlorine from cfcs and hcfcs drop to a point where the coldness above antarctica don"t matter anymore. Global mean surface temperatures have been steadily increasing over past century. Was a point in first half of 20th century where temperature change was minimal/was cooling. Was competing effect of increase in coal and aerosols. Coal has warming effect that is offset by cooling effect of aerosols. Clear upward trend in global mean temperature variations after removing effects of: Tree rings can be used as temperature proxies if temperature is the limiting factor for the tree"s growth. Sun spots affect amount of energy from sun. Temperature variations can be inferred from oxygen isotope ratios in annual growth rings of corals. Ice cores show temperature conditions in high latitudes.
