No legiimacy-> people couldn"t contest the state, it just existed. Managed to achieve more regularity of governance (cid:1) (cid:1) Nobody was a ciizen and everybody was a subject. Peter ekeh-> rise of possessive individualism-> hobbes. Individuals relinquish their autonomy to live in the state, but you beneit from it. Economic beneits-> regulaion of trade, commerce, currency. Not all states provide same beneits to same people. Independence of ghana-> not african independence, but independence of the state. Doesn"t accept legiimacy of precolonial rule-> asante. People turn to kinship groups for survival (cid:1) (cid:1) Bad-> 50% of being murdered by someone you know inimately. There is within out inimate kinship relaionships, there is a lurking danger. Especially for women-> more likely to be sexually assaulted by someone they know.
