Some say, 1941- time of ww2, but that"s too late. 1898- when usa conquered philippines, beginning of american imperial vision is a little late. Usa is overlooked because it did not form alliances or fight european war. but that"s bs. Because americans has been fighting brits and spain. The real reason has a lot do with how the leaders described america. Wars came to an end, the war of 1812 between america and brit came to an end. Both realized that both would benefit with cooperation. There is a commercial treaty between the two states and then there"s a naval treaty to reduce naval presence on the great lakes. There"s an understanding at the states leadership that there should be cooperation, yet there is distinction between the people and especially their press.
