Important because north american component; fought in north america. By 1700s the english colonies had more population than french colonies. Not much a foundation for an army and the economic is weak. New france is totally depended on its existence on old france. France is a province of france, its organization is just the same. Inhabitants in new france are treated the same as old france except that they do not have the tax burden. English colonies are still run as joint companies. North america in 1700s was very thinly settled. French are either on the st laurent river or acadia.
