German confederation: germanylarger than independent german states began in imaginations, germans encouraged to unite german states. National movements began to merge with liberalism: liberalism urban, national libery element of liberty, liberalism as a revolutionary element, some of same representations, paris 1848 overthrow louis philipe. Created a spark for others who wanted fundamental change.
