The cold war was a conflict that covered the whole passage of life j political, economic, military and social aspects of life. The economic and scientific struggles for ideological superiority. Both communist and capitalist were modified in 1940s and both tried to prove their superiority. Western europe needed to go along the american lines to maintain the standard of living. 270 million citizens agreed to work together and share the economic development and establish a say in the development. 1947 j 1960: a 312% unprecedented growth in western germany. Eastern europe followed the same pattern, but never grew as much as western germany. Stalin agreed to create a union that offered the same economic benefit to the soviet satellite states. Even though they were members of comecon, no benefit went to the way since they still had to pay russians. The marshall plan j american goods would still have a market.
