Commander in chief of the army Regionalismparochialism Republicanismmonarchy Burghers did all they could to stop the House of Orange from ruling like a monarchy Regents of province of Holland provided much of the finance religious toleration, low taxes, not many foreign alliances, neutral, small army, huge marine, and Dutch commerce this is the agenda of Holland and the regents put pressure on the States general to implement their policies Grand pensionary decentralized state and stadholder limited the grand pensionaries ability to have too much power Members of the states general had to consult with the provinces before implementing an important decision Dutch Economy:
