Rome: galen (150- 210 a. d. ) brain is center of mental activity brain injury studies. Looked at the 4 elements in the body tissues and saw moving water/fluid. Ventricles and 4 humours : blood, phlegm, black and yellow bile. Humours are moving fluids moving of blood creates happy feeling. Movement of phlegm creates depression and slowing down. Movement of bile creates another emotion. Moving of each humour produces a different feeling of emotions. 100 years before aristotle but aristotle was stubborn with his belief.
