Document Summary
Sex helps maintain pair bonds for long-term parenting: maintained sexual bhvr keep parents together better survival. & investment of children support high demand of investments required by children. Review session #7 sex hormones & bhvr. Anisogomy: dif in size of gametes, smaller male. Since harder to male eggs than sperm females invest more in gametes. Includes foor & protection resources, viability of offspring. Few offspring (low quantity), highest survival rate (high quality) Investment determines how we feeling about our offspring. Delayed puberty, reproduction, birth control: all of society is increasing investment & decreasing reproduction rates further delays. Less dependent on hormones & on pheromones: mating throughout cycle, all seasons, throughout life, isn"t solely based on estrus. Many animals have mating seasons: we are still effected by pheromones but affected less than animals due to regression of our olfactory system. More diversity in bhvr: ex. positions, partnership patterns, mate throughout year since resources always available (ex. food, water)
