Feb 6 , 2014    Issue of voice as resistance. In what form(s) can resistance play out?   The state exercises power through cleansing itself, construct itself as the  embodiment of freedom and liberty etc.   The violence that is depicted upon particular bodies must remain invisible  (minorities, the poor)  “Unmapping” – theoretical process of resistance, and practice.  Making state violence visible.   Critical consciousness   Bastion of white supremacy – academic institutions, ignore “black history”, speak  primarily of heroes and outside of Canadian context.    What are structural causes of equity? Institutional racism?   Solutions, what are they? Are they useful?   Post 9/11 is the Middle Eastern/South Asian body, constructed as terrorist,  represents racialization of terrorism.   Ascribed the role as “threat” to the nation state. Undocumented workers threat to  the safety of the nation.   Effect change in the machinery of power, forms of resistance. Destabilized the  institution of power, thrust into our entry
