Document Summary
On the eternity of the world march 8 th. Condemnation of 1270 and 1277, the banning of 13 articles. Two important igures: boethius of dacia and siger of barbant. 1270s but there is not much information on it. His two works that we will be focussing on is about the eternity of the world and the highest good. He praised the philosophical life, unlike aquinas, who subordinated the philosophical good of contemplation to the beatiic vision in the afterlife. Boethius"s position on the eternity of the world is almost the same as aquinas, in that they both eventually turn to revelation for truth. What"s diferent is that he has a very interesting approach to the question. He approaches the question in what you do in physics/natural philosophy and its limits. He agrees with aquinas but tries to argue that the philosopher can igure out without theology why it is that he cannot know the eternity of the universe.
