Knowledge as knowledge of relations of ideas. 1)an internal relation explained just by the natures of ideas. 1)relations of space and time are external relations not internal relations. 2)external: identity, relations of time and place, and causation. Causation is external because they aren"t internal relations among the ideas. Identity is the odd thing that hume thinks is an external relation because he means identity in a specific sense. He means the identity of two objects perfectly resembling each other . The identity is the identity of one thing over time. Two objects, tho" perfectly resembling each other .
