Why Philosophy?
Lets you cut through bullshit
spot errors in reasoning
make clear points
analyze issues
think outside of the box
What is Philosophy?
In philosophy there are two ways to answer this question- that is, there are two ways to answer
a question of a definition.
1. Showing: to list, in order to ‘get the idea.’ e.g., what is a fruit? An apple or a pear or an
orange.
2. Saying: actually say the definition. A fruit is a sweet and fleshy product of a tree or other
plant that contains seed and can be eaten as a food.
SO:
Philosophy is:
1. Ontology, the study of what exists
Epistemology, the study of what you can know
Ethics, the study of what is right and wrong
Aesthetics, the study of beauty
The Philosophy of __(anything really)__
2.
Asking childish questions. Philosophers and children are very similar in the way
they question reality.
