Virtues are defined by the acts of virtues people do
Unless you know a lot of virtuous people and have a way you
know they are virtuous, you won’t know what you’re doing is
virtuous
Utilitarianism
Hedonism: we call something bad because it tends towards pain
Happiness in good and consists in pleasure
Right thing to do is to maximize everyones happiness and
minimize everyones pain as much as possible
Utility used to oppose utility
Dangerous only to selfish people
Individual act’s value (pleasure or pain)
Intensity
Duration
Certainty
Propinquity
Act by which it is produced
Feeundity
Purity
Utility gets its thrust from the number of people affected
Ex. Bob Marley concert
