Continental philosophy: british analytic, refers to the thinkers who came to the continent, thinkers from france, germany who reacted to a narrow analytic prism from which to look at. Philosophy was going to be engaged and how they actually live. Not simply an abstract exercise - it is meant to reveal something that we live everyday. Economist bill rees documents: focused on trying to deconstruct value systems, language, culture, history - how does all of this play out when making decisions, the need is for more appropriate philosophy than appropriate technology . 4/5 if you are here every week: discussion paper/article or book review: 30% Will be based on one article off the course reader. First marks will be on your assessment. The second will be on your critical views: research essay: 40% the other 30% will be the essay itself.
