Eugenics different races exist, there is a hierarchy of races and that it implies superiority and inferiority, and a public policy agenda to breed out the inferior races. Eugenics was particularly powerful in britain and the united states, as it legitimated slavery and racial subjugation. When you have the idea that some people are inferior based off of race then the politics that would arise would be based on those witnessed during the holocaust. The history of race starts in the pre-colonial period. Christian and not christian, and people who are civilized and not civilized. Initially race as not considered a permanent characteristic of human beings. People could be converted, they could become civilized. The reason to distinguish between races was to justify the fact that people of other races are not ready for self-government. The native populations were thought of to be child-like. Race was institunialized in south africa and united states, but not in brazil.
