Effect of education on souls (lack of) All of us come into the world the same: Chained to the wall, facing the very back of the cave. Lights provided by a fire up and behind them. Wall in between the individuals and fire/light. All the prisoners see are the shadows. Nothing more real to them than these shadows. Socrates says they are actually more similar to humans than thought of. Truth of the shadows is they are not real. Individuals need to turn back to the reality they know to understand the images are not actually real. Individual believes there is nothing more to learn than what they have already seen. When facing the fire now, they realize it"s too bright to the mind"s eye . Once adjusted, you truly see the real . Move from visible to the intelligible realm. Hard for individual because didn"t believe anything except the cave.
