In ir, we discuss the issue from international political economy (ipe) perspective. Linking economy with politics to explain how winners and losers are created. Economic outcomes via politics and vice versa states. Groups in states (skilled vs. unskilled labor, different economic sectors, firms) transnational groups: igos, ngos, mncs, etc. Traditional and new ipe issues trade currency exchange and monetary policy international finance and capital flows (in)justice in the distribution of economic benefits. Extreme inequality is counterproductive, but some inequity is probably unavoidable. Inequality underpins most human societies, whether it"s material or social (and perhaps good) Igos (bbc four video: wealth and health in 200 years. Plausible factors affecting development: colonialism, city-rural divide, property security, institutions, regime type, resource endowment, etc. ) Humanity in general is living longer (on average) Inequality in general is persistence, but it"s getting smaller. But the experience of that long life differs. Inequality is a function of on-the-ground conditions + policy choices.
