Peace-keeping operations cover a wide spread of military operations and strategic operations. Peace-keeping started with an idea by a canadian politician- concept as a way of helping countries that decided to sign the truce, peace agreement- idea was to have some blue helmets to make that settlement easier- monitor and enforce. Un at the start was meant to have its own forces with a chief of staff belonging to the un. Problem of accountability if this were to be implemented. Green line monitored by the un- monitoring a truce. May have in-between election supervision- force sent to monitor electoral process. Assistance during conflict- red cross- soldiers are brought to make sure humanitarian work can go ahead- humanitarian corridor (sarajevo).
