The ban of the veil in france was not the result of france aiming to address the discrimination and inequality that muslim women with hijab experience in the french education system and society in a more general context. Argument 1 made in support of thesis (1-2 sentences) It has come to symbolize the difference between islam and the west, the difference between their cultures. Argument 2 made in support of thesis (1-2 sentences not necessary for all readings) France insistence on the prohibition of hijab becomes only an easy fix for a problem that runs deep into the roots of muslim families and their codes of inequality between the two genders. The legislative forces should make an attempt to highlight the issue by making changes in the laws. Some may argue that the ban is solely done for assimilating purposes.
