Document Summary

The nervous system (ns) is the seat of all activities in the body. System (cns) is made up of the brain and spinal cord. The peripheral nervous system, is everything that resides or extends outside the. It is divided into the somatic and an autonomic nervous system. The peripheral nervous system is not protected by bones. These are excitable cells that carry information from one location to the other, Excitable means that the neurons can generate and carry electrical signals from one point to another. Most of the cells in our body are not excitable. They do not generate nor do they respond to an electrical signal. These electrical signal is called an action potential. These non excitable cells on the other hand, could also conduct electricity passively. This is as most cells are not interested in carrying electrical signals. Up to 90 percent of the cells in the body are made up of glial cells.
