Document Summary
[bone marrow, liver and spleen do not have typical capillaries but sinusoids]; Bottom left: little clefts go through endothelial wall; depending on the size, can squeeze small molecules and pass material through. Helpful in getting larger molecules from blood to interstitial side. Also has clefts and fenestra or windows to get larger proteins out these types are therefore leakier due to these openings. A lot of small molecules that can pass through lipid bilayer move by diffusion. Diffusion process where o2 in low conc. In tissue, high attached to hemoglobin; diffusion of o2 to where it is needed larger proteins require vesicular transport. Very intricately designed so that nutrients come in at one end and waste goes out at the other. Solute and fluid exchange across capillaries flow into and out of capillary; beginnings of lymphatic system shown on bottom.
