Document Summary

Office hours: wednesday 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm. The first half is more about the buddhist ethics. The buddhist way of establishing an ethical platform to help us understand the controversial issues around our world today. How would the buddhist understand the issue. e. g. euthanasia (being legalized in canada; montreal). Something that is legal may not be moral. What i think is that life is suffering etc. but you can reincarnate so why should you care? e. g. abortion (legal in canada) buddhists don"t believe in a god. Life is a gift from god (in other cultures) so we have no right to terminate lives. Even if you are not a christian/buddhist, these buddhist ethics may provide us with a different angle regarding these matters. Buddhist in the 20th centre, some of them came to the realization that practicing buddhism should not be just about having a peaceful time in a hall/by yourself .
