Document Summary
The demand of breathing is depended on levels of co2 in body!! = over breathing, feeling not getting enough air. Increase oxygen level in lung and too much drop in co2 concentration in plasma. It"s not hyperventilating if you are exercising. (your body demands to do so) This strategy helps free divers to overcome the need to breathe for some time. advantage for them to spent longer underwater. Rapid co2 concentration loss in blood during hyperventilating, this way, our body will think that we don"t need much oxygen, and wouldn"t need to breath as much. On the other hand, hyperventilating does not increase o2. Danger: the diver doesn"t feel like the need to breathe. When o2 level is declining and co2 is building up, body demands breathing to release co2 and take in. High [co2] in plasma triggers breathing mechanism. Breathing is triggered before blackout happens with low o2.
