On the other hand, hyperventilating does not increase o2. Danger: the diver doesn"t feel like the need to breathe. When o2 level is declining and co2 is building up, body demands breathing to release co2 and take in. High [co2] in plasma triggers breathing mechanism. Breathing is triggered before blackout happens with low o2.
