Document Summary

Viktor frankl: we who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. Outside of politics, the 2016 u. s presidential election was genuinely surprising. Trump had broken all social conventions that society held as common knowledge. This result is an interplay between emotions and cognitions. Emotions are important as they effect our lives in major ways: despite their ambiguities, emotions remain understandable and can be deconstructed. Important aspects underlying emotions include: cognitive framing, physiological/arousal processes. An implication is that that one does with one"s own body and mind is the emotional experience one will end up having; the emotional life one will eventually live. A second implication is that one"s life is very strongly determined by one"s emotions: during the expression of these emotions, one often lacks control of these processes.
