What is science : requires being open-minded and skeptical to any and every idea. The danger of online polls: online voting polls often have strange results, people behave differently often strangely when they are anonymous and/or not accountable. In psychology : we are interested in the characteristics of behaviours, including mechanism (cause, behaviours are influenced by, stimuli: objects + events, many typically considered at once, context: environment in which they occur (group of stimuli) Psy100: e. g. math questions (stimuli) can cause anxiety (behaviour), but the level of anxiety depends on the situation (context; in-class vs exam hall) Psychology asks big questions: nature vs nurture, free will vs determinism, accuracy vs inaccuracy, subconscious vs conscious. Sometimes, overeating may be viewed favourably: graph shows influence of audience. Men eat more (pizza + salad) in front of women. It is multifactorial many factors are influential, each factor generally has small effect: all these factors interact.
