Document Summary
November 12, 2007: we make an educated guess when we think we"re remembering information from memory, application error, mix up information from different times, different aspects of what memory is, memory is like a video tape recorder. Picks up all that we see and hear. Stores them: difficulty is retrieving information. Ignore 90% of things around environment: small bit of information is available at all times, some things sneak in sublimal learning, we remember things we pay attention to, encoding, attention. Some things are made up because of experience. Some are made up of expectations: memory processes, may involve multiple systems. Automatic: memory, process by which we observe , store and recall information. Structural encoding: capital letters, colour etc, intermediate processing. Phonemic encoding: rhyming, homonyms, reading something out loud or in your head to remember it, deep processing. We remember as well as understand information.
